Paula's teaching and research focus on how body and relational awareness support cognition, creativity, and presence. She is a faculty member of Circles of Four, an international post-graduate program designed to prepare teachers of the Discipline of Authentic Movement. In other teaching, Paula brings her experience as a somatic educator, her long time study of Anthroposophy, and her passion for supporting the development of witness consciousness to her work in a wide range of fields, particularly education.
She is co-founder of The Mariposa Center, a non-profit early learning initiative for children and families in Providence, RI and is on the board of The Center for Contemplative Mind in Society. In 1993, she co-founded and served, until 2006, as editor and writer for A Moving Journal, a publication devoted to Authentic Movement. Paula Sager, BA, MLS, has a degree in Dance from Bennington College, and a graduate degree from the Barfield School at Sunbridge College. Her Master’s degree focused on the development of the inner witness with thesis mentors Janet Adler and Arthur Zajonc. She studied the Alexander Technique with Eva Karczag and Aileen Crow, becoming certified as an Alexander teacher in 1989.
